Copa del Rey: Barcelona 4-1 Cultural Leonesa (agg 5-1) – Barca Blaugranes

Barcelona are safely into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after a comfortable 4-1 win over Cultural Leoneaa at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.

FIRST HALF

Ernesto Valverde finally got in the rotation mood and named youngsters Chumi, Juan Miranda, Oriol Busquets and Carles Alena in his starting XI.

Barcelona only needed 18 minutes to open the scoring, Munir finishing off a nicely-worked move with a brilliant turn and shot into the top corner.

He almost added a second minutes later after being sent clear by Malcom, but his shot hit the woodwork.

The second goal arrived after 26 minutes. Denis Suarez picked up possession and fired home a shot from range.

It then got even better just before the break, as Malcom headed home Ivan Rakitic’s cross to put Barcelona in complete control.

SECOND HALF

The hosts made changes in the second half with Sergio Busquets replacing Rakitic and Riqui Puig coming on for Oriol Busquets.

However, they did not have it all their own way as Josep Señé pulled one back for Cultural Leonesa from close range.

Denis then grabbed his second of the night with a neat finish after some good work from Puig to complete the win.

The match was mared slightly by Malcom going off with an injury late on and appearing to be in tears. Let’s hope it’s not too serious.
